Minsk taxi companies promise fair prices during 2nd European Games 2019

MINSK, 2 November (BelTA) – Major taxi companies operating in Minsk have signed a memorandum on a guaranteed level of tariffs on passenger transportation services during the 2nd European Games Minsk 2019 with the Antimonopoly Regulation and Trade Ministry, the Transport and Communications Ministry, and the Minsk City Executive Committee, BelTA has learned.

In line with the memorandum on 15 June – 5 July 2019 taxi service prices, including prices for taxi services available via mobile apps, will not exceed the price, which will be in effect in Minsk on 1 April 2019. By promising not to raise the prices, the Minsk city taxi companies will offer a comfortable stay to tourists and participants of the 2nd European Games Minsk 2019 during the games. The memorandum will also help enhance the hospitable image of the city and the country.

Deputy Antimonopoly Regulation and Trade Minister Ivan Vezhnovets said the signing of the memorandum was a voluntary step on the part of the taxi companies. It demonstrated their social responsibility, he noted.

The document was signed by representatives of 14 Minsk taxi companies, including those operating via mobile apps. However, one of the largest Minsk city taxi companies has not signed the document so far.

The Antimonopoly Regulation and Trade Ministry invited any other taxi company to sign the document at any time before the 2nd European Games Minsk 2019 begin.

The Antimonopoly Regulation and Trade Ministry would like the signatories to design a special logo and place it on their cars. The logo would help Minsk visitors and residents to more easily identify taxi service providers with fair prices.

The list of the taxi companies, which have signed the fair prices memorandum, will be made available on the Antimonopoly Regulation and Trade Ministry website. The terms of the memorandum will also be specified.
