MINSK, 31 May (BelTA) – The multipurpose complex Minsk Arena was handed over to the Minsk European Games Organizing Committee (MEGOC) on 31 May for the sake of preparing and hosting the 2nd European Games Minsk 2019, the MEGOC press service told BelTA.

According to the arena’s Director General Nikolai Ananyev, the complex is always ready to host events of any kind. The 2nd European Games Minsk 2019 will not be an exception.

The official said: “The complex includes four structures: a sport and entertainment arena able to seat 15,000 spectators, a velodrome with 2,000 seats, a skating stadium with 3,000 seats, and a multilevel parking lot. The complex is a complicated structure from the technological point of view. It has a unique stage, which is unparalleled in Belarus, and cutting-edge equipment, which fully meets professional requirements.”

MEGOC CEO George Katulin said: “Minsk Arena is a special venue for us because it will simultaneously host not only competitions in several sports but also one of the official fan zones. I would like to emphasize the level of mutual understanding and interaction that has evolved between personnel of MEGOC and sport facilities. I have no doubt that Minsk Arena will become one of the most popular venues among fans and tourists thanks to smooth work of all the services and thanks to the popularity of the sports the facility will host. All the algorithms have already been worked out for converting the venue for the sake of hosting various sport events. We’ve received positive evaluations of the suggested solutions from the European Union of Gymnastics after test competitions.”

During the 2nd European Games Minsk Arena will host a number of gymnastics events (rhythmic gymnastics and artistic gymnastics, aerobics, acrobatics, trampolining) on 22-30 June. Minsk Arena will host track cycling competitions on 27-30 June. The tickets will cost from Br7 to Br30.

The 2nd European Games Minsk 2019 is the largest multisport forum in Belarus’ history. It will take place in the Belarusian capital city on 21-30 June 2019. Athletes will compete in 15 sports at 12 sport venues in Minsk. Competitions in eight sports will be qualifiers for the 2020 Summer Olympics in Tokyo.
