MINSK, 3 February (BelTA) – The mascot of the 2nd European Games 2019, Lesik the Baby Fox, won the mascot contest at the LTEAM Winter Challenge 2019 that took place in Lithuania’s Druskininkai on 1-3 February, BelTA learned from the Directorate of the 2nd European Games 2019.

The mascots competed in several disciplines: downhill skiing, staking, winter football, dancing and winter volleyball. Lesik the Baby Fox took the lead from the very onset of the contest and never lost momentum till the end.

“This festival has been held for the sixth time. Druskininkai has hosted it for the fourth time. At first, the forum was a one-day event to present various winter sports. Over six years the festival has undergone major changes. Now it is held for several days and draws a lot more participants: over 3,000 people attended it this year. The mascot contest has a special place in the festival’s program. Lesik the Baby Fox showed an outstanding performance! We were very glad to be the first European country to welcome this charming baby fox,” President of the National Olympic Committee of Lithuania Daina Gudzineviciute said.

Last year the victory in the mascot contest went to the host country.

The LTEAM Winter Challenge is supported by the National Olympic Committee of Lithuania and is an important sports event in the neighboring country.
