Food courts to open in European Games fan zones in Minsk

MINSK, 19 June (BelTA) – Fan zones of the 2nd European Games in Minsk will run street food courts for around 2,000 people, Andrei Ulezlo, Head of the Main Directorate of Consumer Market of the Minsk City Hall, told journalists on 19 June, BelTA has learned.

“Trade and catering facilities of Minsk are ready for the influx of customers. Three food courts in the fan zones will be able to seat some 2,000 people,” Andrei Ulezlo said. “They will cook takeaway food on the spot. The menu will include, for example, grilled sausages, ribs, chicken wings, and barbecue, as well as traditional Belarusian draniks (potato pancakes), hot dogs, lavash (thin bread) and pancakes with various fillings, mini-pizzas, potatoes, and other dishes. From 21 June till 1 July, food courts will be allowed to sell beer,” he added.

A food court near the Palace of Sports will be almost 180 meter long. It will include 14 catering facilities and will seat 1,000 people. The embassies of Turkey, Italy, and Georgia will open counters serving their national food.

A fan zone near Minsk Arena will have five catering facilities and five food trucks. A fan zone by Chizhovka Arena will include a 560-seat food court.

The territory around Dinamo Stadium is expected to be the most crowded. It will host the Summer in Oktyabrskaya Street fair. During the European Games, some 20 catering facilities will be working in Oktyabrskaya Street from 12h00 to 24h00.
