Extra trains planned for visitors to Minsk European Games venues

MINSK, 26 February (BelTA) – Belarusian Railways will provide more trains to take fans to the 2nd European Games venues Minsk Arena and Rowing Canal in Zaslavl, BelTA learned from the press service of the Belarusian Railways.

With the schedule for sport events in mind, Belarusian Railways has developed a timetable of its urban and regional trains enroute Minsk-Masyukovshchina-Belarus. An additional 57 train services will operate during the period from 22 to 30 June. As many as 62 trains will transport fans back to the Minsk railway station.

According to the press service, Belarusian Railways, in cooperation with the Belarusian Association of Transport Experts and Surveyors, checked navigation and passenger information systems at the Minsk-Passazhirsky and Belarus railway stations, and also the Masyukovshchina and Minsk Severny stopping points. To make navigation easier for passengers the signature system has been improved, both in terms of content and placement.

In addition, a set of measures is in progress to develop the infrastructure of Minsk Passazhirsky railway station. The station has already seen six escalators replaced and air conditioning system installed in the hall of ticket offices. The first passenger platform has undergone a makeover: the surface has been replaced, a barrier-free environment for disabled people created and the lighting system improved.

Special attention is paid to language skills of personnel. Some 99 staff have taken English language courses. These are announcers, ticket cashiers, staff of the waiting rooms, contact center and train crews.
