Second European Games in Belarus

MINSK, 25 June (BelTA) – The heads of the delegations of the participating states of the 2^nd European Games 2019 will pay a visit to Minsk on 9-12 July, Belarus’ Sports and Tourism Minister Sergei Kovalchuk said in an interview to the STV TV channel, BelTA has learned.

“The preparations for the 2^nd European Games are on schedule. A seminar for the mission chiefs will take place in Minsk on 9-12 July. Plans are in place to organize a press tour. I think that we will be ready to hold the Games at a high level,” said Sergei Kovalchuk.

The government pays a lot of attention to sport development in the country, the minister said. "We have highly-qualified specialists in sport and count on our professionals. As for summer sports it is football and athletics. Among winter sports it is biathlon, aerials and ice hockey. The government attaches close attention to sport. We must produce results,” he stressed.
