Customs services of Belarus, Russia to cooperate during 2nd European Games

MINSK, 4 October (BelTA) – The State Customs Committee of Belarus and the Federal Customs Service of Russia signed a memorandum of intent to ensure cooperation during the 2nd European Games. The document was signed at the 68th session of the CIS Customs Council in Dushanbe, BelTA learned from the State Customs Committee of Belarus.

The council is primarily engaged in identifying and improving priority areas in the field of customs, harmonizing the customs laws of the CIS member states, coordinating the practical interaction of customs and other interested national services and agencies, and also facilitating the implementation of adopted interstate and intergovernmental decisions. Taking part in the meeting was a delegation of the Belarusian customs service led by Chairman of the State Customs Committee Yuri Senko.

The participants took decisions concerning the development of a standard technology for interaction between customs authorities and railway carriers of the CIS member states. Representatives of the delegations decided on the participation of the customs services of the CIS member states in a pilot project of the World Customs Organization to expand the practice of using the Russian language in work. The parties talked over issues of introducing amendments to the Russian-language version of the 6th edition of the Harmonized Commodity Description and Coding System, the single commodity nomenclature of the CIS foreign economic activity on its basis and necessary explanation to them. The sides considered the issue of approving typical security requirements for information systems and customs authorities' resources.

The abovementioned decisions are aimed at further improvement of the practical cooperation between the CIS customs services in various areas of customs affairs.
