MINSK, 16 January (BelTA) - The Minsk European Games Organizing Committee (MEGOC) signed cooperation agreements with three Belarusian diaspora organizations from Lithuania and Italy, BelTA learned from the MEGOC press service.

The Belarusian cultural center Krok (Visaginas, Lithuania), the Belarusian community Krynitsa (Klaipeda, Lithuania) and the cultural community association BELLARUS (Naples, Italy) will help promote the information about the event and raise international awareness about the upcoming games, including among the Belarusian diasporas abroad.

Relevant documents were signed by head of the BELLARUS association Tatiana Pumpuleva, the head of Krok Oleg Davidyuk, the chairman of Krynitsy, Honorary Consul of Belarus in Klaipeda Nikolai Logvin and MEGOC CEO George Katulin.

International friendship marathon Grodno-Druskininkai is a good example of cooperation with Lithuania. A bike ride along the similar route is becoming increasingly popular. Close relationship has been maintained with the Belarusian diaspora in Italy since the 2006 Winter Olympics in Turin," George Katulin said.

The cooperation agreements provide for promoting relevant information on websites and pages on social networks, attracting print and electronic media and other sources to the promotion of information about the European Games.

The chairman of the Belarusian community Krynitsa Nikolai Logvin believes that the 2nd European Games in Minsk will be interesting for Lithuanian young athletes, students, and teenagers because travel expenses will not be high. "We already have an agreement with the Klaipeda Municipal Sports Department to organize meetings with the heads of sports schools and sections, provide them with materials about European Games sports. The city also houses one of the Danish ferry companies that expressed willingness to cooperate in advertising, putting ads on the ships. It would like residents of the cities of Denmark, Germany and Sweden connected by the ferry service to use this mode of transport as they travel to Minsk for the games,” Nikolai Logvin said.

The head of the BELLARUS Cultural Association, Tatiana Pumpuleva, believes that the European Games will arouse interest among Italian fans. "We will post information about the games on the Internet, including social networks, send the materials to our Italian branch in the Calabria region. In Naples, we plan to seek support from the municipal council, the city university. I have no doubt that we will receive it and the information will reach the target audience. We focus on young people, athletes and fans,” Tatyana Pumpuleva said.

The MEGOC noted that it has developed the concept to involve Belarusians from different countries to promote the games. The largest organizations of Belarusians abroad are located in Russia, Poland, Latvia, Lithuania, Estonia, Kazakhstan, Ukraine, Moldova, USA, Israel, the UK, Belgium, Czechia, Spain, Italy, Germany, Switzerland, Canada, Argentina, Kyrgyzstan, and Armenia.
