Belarus PM: Student Village facilities meet requirements, ready for European Games

MINSK, 25 April (BelTA) - The facilities in the Student Village meet all requirements and are ready to host participants of the European Games, Belarus Prime Minister Sergei Rumas said during an on-site meeting of the national organizing committee for the 2nd European Games, BelTA has learned.

The organizing committee held the meeting in the Student Village (Athletes village for the duration of the games) under the chairmanship of the prime minister. Members of the organizing committee visited transport mall, dormitories of the BSUIR and BSU, catering facilities. “We agreed to hold the next meeting of the organizing committee right on site. Today the members of the organizing committee got familiar with temporary infrastructure. We inspected catering facilities for athletes who will be staying in the Student Village. It was built in record time, within three and a half months and will provide meals to 2,000 athletes daily. The committee members also visited several dormitories where athletes will be staying. All rooms have been renovated, new furniture installed, including extra long beds for tall athletes. The rooms meet all the requirements for accommodation of participants of the 2nd European Games,” Sergei Rumas said.

The organizing committee discussed the catering programs in the Athletes Village and sports facilities, and the preparation of the Athletes Village for the games.

The 2nd European Games will take place in Minsk on 21-30 June 2019. Over 4,000 athletes from 50 countries will compete in 199 medal events in 15 sports.
