2nd European Games to be broadcast on all continents

MINSK, 27 March (BelTA) – Fans will be able to watch the 2nd European Games in Minsk on all the continents, head of the marketing and advertising department of the Minsk European Games Organizing Committee (MEGOC) Maksim Koshkalda told a press conference in Belarus Segodnya’s press center on 27 March, BelTA has learned.

“Thanks to the home broadcaster of the upcoming sports forum, the Spanish ISB II, the European Games will be seen by fans on all the continents of the world. As of today, the rights to broadcast the games have been sold to 122 territories. The average broadcasting for each will be 70 hours. For example, German Sport 1 will broadcast to four countries: Germany, Switzerland, Austria and Luxembourg,” said Maksim Koshkalda.

According to him, the broadcasting of the 2nd European Games from Minsk is, among other things, an excellent way to promote the country on the international arena. “We are actively cooperating with the leading European news channel Euronews. We would like to have the 2nd European Games broadcast in more than 140 countries," the MEGOC representative added. Among the copyright holders of media rights are also the leading Chinese TV channel CCTV, and also Spanish-speaking U.S. TV channels.

Chief Director of the TV Program Department at Belteleradiocompany, adviser at the Minsk European Games Organizing Committee Alexander Kazyukevich stated that the international broadcasting center will be located on Pobeditelei Avenue. “The center will be a modern complex with all necessary equipment to ensure round-the-clock broadcasting. A lot has already been done for high-quality broadcasting of the 2nd European Games,” he said.

Belarus won the right to host the 2nd European Games in 2019 at the 45th meeting of the General Assembly of the European Olympic Committees (EOC) in Minsk in October 2016.
