2nd European Games Minsk 2019 attract thousands of volunteers

MINSK, 20 June (BelTA) – Volunteers have submitted over 7,500 applications one year before the 2nd European Games are scheduled to begin in Minsk, BelTA learned from Anatoly Kotov, deputy director of the agency in charge of organizing the 2nd European Games Minsk 2019, on 20 June.

The official said: “It is the most active and dynamic force of the games because the number of volunteers in June 2019 will be larger than the number of personnel in the organizing committee. We are glad that about 1,000 people are volunteers from Russia. Those are people, who root for sport, people, who worked during the Olympic Games in Sochi and the world football championship.”

The official website of the 2nd European Games Minsk 2019 will be renewed one year before the games begin. There are plans to present two mascots within two weeks.

Anatoly Kotov added that a large number of fans are expected to arrive in Belarus in one year. Those, who choose to travel by car, will be offered preferential toll road terms.

The 2nd European Games are expected to attract over 4,000 athletes and other representatives of official delegations from 50 European national Olympic committees. Besides, Belarus will welcome about 650 international and 410 national sport judges, about 1,000 representatives of foreign mass media, heads of European sport federations and agencies, workers of the EOC headquarters, heads of European NOCs, and high-rankling officials from a number of countries.
