2nd European Games, 3x3 basketball tournament presented in Munich

MINSK, 24 May (BelTA) – The presentation of the 2nd European Games and the 3x3 basketball tournament included into the competitions program took place at the FIBA Europe General Assembly, BelTA learned from the Belarusian Basketball Federation.

Attending the assembly which is underway in Munich on 24-25 May are heads of the European national federations, FIBA President Horacio Muratore, FIBA Secretary General Andreas Zagklis. Belarus was represented at the assembly by a delegation led by Chairman of the Belarusian Basketball Federation Maksim Ryzhenkov.

Secretary General and Executive Director of the Belarusian Basketball Federation Anastasia Marinina told the participants of the assembly about the forthcoming 3x3 basketball competitions in Minsk in June. The competitions will feature 16 men’s and women’s teams. She also spoke about infrastructure, Belarus' visa-free rules and tourist packages for fans.

FIBA Executive Director Europe Kamil Novak has confirmed his participation in the 2nd European Games in the capacity of a guest. Minsk also expects the visit of the newly-elected FIBA Europe president. The elections are due to take place in Munich tomorrow, 25 May.

“Many leaders of FIBA and FIBA Europe, representatives of national federations have already visited Belarus many times. They all have lauded Belarus as an excellent host of basketball events, the beauty of the capital city, the high level of sport development in the country thanks to the support of the head of state. An agreement was reached with the heads of the national federations on the support of Belarus’ initiatives on matters of organizing major sports tournaments in our country and implementation of joint projects,” Maksim Ryzhenkov said.
