Slavianski Bazaar opening concert to highlight Year of Native Land

MINSK, 6 June (BelTA) – The opening concert of the International Festival of Arts Slavianski Bazaar in Vitebsk will be dedicated to the Year of Native Land,  chief director of the opening gala, deputy director of the Vitebsk culture center Marina Romanovskaya told a press conference in BelTA’s press center, BelTA has learned.

In her view, it is a very beautiful theme which cannot leave anyone indifferent. It has inspired a program called “Home where you are always welcome”. In addition, this year the amphitheater marks 30 years. “Thus we draw a parallel between the native land and the amphitheater as a creative home for a large number of artists. For many of them Slavianski Bazaar opened the door to the world of arts,” Marina Romanovskaya said.

The opening concert promises to be an unusually rich and interesting. It will feature ‘newcomers’ and ‘old-timers’ of the festival.  Among the artists are singers from Belarus, Russia, Ukraine and other countries. The performance by five orchestras will be the biggest draw. We have never seen such a thing at the festival.  The performance will feature the State Orchestra under the baton of Mikhail Finberg, the orchestra of Emir Kusturica and Goran Bregovic, orchestra of People's Artist of Russia Oleg Menshikov, Vivaldi-Orchestra under the baton of Svetlana Bezrodnoya, Marina Romanovskaya informed.

The closing concert “Three minutes of music summer” will also be built around the Year of Native Land theme, chief director of the closing gala Alexandr Vavilov said. According to him, the Summer Amphitheater is a place that gave way to the career of many artists. They still come to Vitebsk to plunge into the atmosphere of the three minutes. This is usually how long a song lasts, he noted.

The 27th edition of the International Festival of Arts Slavianski Bazaar in Vitebsk will be held from 12 to 16 July. Additional events are scheduled for 7-11 July and 17-18 July.
