Zimbabwean delegation visits Belarus’ Hi-Tech Park

MINSK, 15 September (BelTA) – A Zimbabwean delegation led by Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs and International Trade Sheillah Chikomo has visited the Hi-Tech Park (HTP), the HTP press service told BelTA.
This is not the first visit of Zimbabwean guests to the HTP: in February, the park hosted a parliamentary delegation led by Senate President Mabel Chinomona.
The main topic of the meeting was the practical application of Belarusian technologies in Zimbabwe. The country is currently actively moving along the path of digital transformation and, as Sheillah Chikomo noted, intends to derive maximum benefit from the application of artificial intelligence technologies.
“The fact that Belarusian companies are ready to enter the Zimbabwean market comes at a perfect time, because right now our country is interested in deriving maximum benefit from the domestic application of artificial intelligence technologies,” Sheillah Chikomo emphasized. “Our goal is to get acquainted with your experience and study in detail the operational model of the Hi-Tech Park, looking at how stakeholders – the government, state agencies, academia, and IT companies – work together to create a favorable environment for the development of innovation.”
The delegation showed particular interest in fields such as artificial intelligence, software development, cybersecurity, fintech, e-commerce, agriculture, smart manufacturing, and other digital solutions.
HTP residents presented their solutions, which are already ready to enter the African market. “These are not just presentations, but concrete products that can address the urgent needs of the Zimbabwean economy, from the digitalization of public administration to medicine and agribusiness,” the press service noted.
Head of the Secretariat of the HTP Supervisory Board Anna Ryabova pointed out that the dialogue with Zimbabwe is becoming systematic. “We are very glad that meetings with representatives of your country are already becoming regular at the Hi-Tech Park. We have already mentioned that the HTP is a legal jurisdiction with special conditions for the development of IT business, and today we are ready to talk not just about potential, but about specific mechanisms for integrating our developments into the economy of Zimbabwe. HTP residents are extremely interested in the African vector, and we see reciprocal steps. This is the main condition for our cooperation to be long-term and mutually beneficial,” Anna Ryabova emphasized.
The parties discussed a wide range of joint topics and agreed on further steps for cooperation, including working out formats of interaction and preparing relevant agreements.
