MINSK, 23 June (BelTA) – Zimbabwe is ready to provide state support to joint economic projects with Belarus, BelTA learned from the press service of the Belarusian Ministry of Foreign Affairs after the trip of the Belarusian delegation including Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of Belarus to South Africa and Zimbabwe (on concurrent) Andrei Molchan to Zimbabwe.
The Belarusian delegation held meetings with President of Zimbabwe Robert Mugabe and a number of ministers. “The sides discussed the development of political and economic cooperation between Belarus and Zimbabwe and considered concrete economic initiatives of the Belarusian side,” the press release of the press service reads.
“The leadership of Zimbabwe expressed eagerness to develop all-round partnership with Belarus and to provide state support to joint economic projects,” the representative of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs said.
Apart from that, the Belarusian delegation took part in the ceremony of putting quarry equipment of OAO BelAZ into operation at Hwange colliery (Belarus delivered 17 items of equipment worth more than $12 million to Zimbabwe). Belarus’ delegation comprised Chairman of the Board of the Development Bank of the Republic of Belarus Sergei Rumas, BelAZ Director General Piotr Parkhomchik and other representatives of Belarusian business circles.
