MINSK, 11 March (BelTA) – Belarusian Trade Minister Vladimir Koltovich met with Ambassador of the United Kingdom of Great Britain and Northern Ireland to Belarus Fionna Gibb on 11 March to discuss ways to attract British companies to Belarus, BelTA learned from the press service of the Belarusian Trade Ministry.

“The parties discussed topical matters of bilateral relations, expressed mutual interest in cooperation, and discussed ways to attract British business to Belarus. Vladimir Koltovich told the Ambassador about the structure, functions, and powers of the Belarusian Trade Ministry. Fionna Gibb emphasized the importance of such meetings and the necessity to discuss opportunities for bolstering the established economic ties between the two countries,” the ministry said.

The Ambassador invited Vladimir Koltovich to attend an investment forum to be held in London in May 2016.

Earlier this week, the Belarusian Trade Minister met with Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of Sweden to Belarus Martin Oberg.

“Mr Oberg congratulated Vladimir Koltovich on his appointment. He expressed hope for further development of the Belarusian-Swedish relations and strengthening of Belarus’ positive image in Sweden. The parties exchanged information about the work of Belarus’ Trade Ministry and the relevant departments in Sweden and agreed to share their experiences in the areas of mutual interest,” the press service said.

Vladimir Koltovich and Martin Oberg discussed ways to boost cooperation, including through the organization of business meetings and business matchmaking events by the Chambers of Commerce and Industry.
