Venezuela shows interest in assembling more Belarus' products

MINSK, 31 May (BelTA) – Venezuela is interested in expanding the lineup of BELARUS equipment assembled in the country, Minsk Tractor Works told BelTA after a visit of Venezuela’s government delegation led by Minister of Basic Industries Juan Arias.

The parties are talking over the assembling of logging equipment. The project can be implemented at an existing production floor in Venezuela. Minister of Basic Industries Juan Arias voiced the proposal: “We would like to add an impetus to our cooperation. Today tractors assembled in Venezuela are used in the agrarian sector. We would like to expand the lineup and are especially interested in logging equipment.”

According to Juan Arias, the parties are currently developing a new cooperation strategy, considering the financial part of the project.

“The basis of cooperation was laid down by two outstanding leaders: Alexander Lukashenko and Hugo Chavez. Today we have everything to develop what has already been achieved,” the head of the delegation said.

MTZ Director General Fyodor Domotenko stated for his part that the company is ready to expand the lineup of the equipment assembled in Venezuela.

“We have received concrete proposals and are currently studying them. A delegation of Minsk Tractor Works will soon be ready to go to Venezuela to continue the talks,” said Fyodor Domotenko.

Minsk Tractor Works produces different special-purpose equipment, including logging and trail tractors, forestry loading and transportation units, harvesters, logging semitrailers and other equipment. MTZ started its supplies to Venezuela in 1985. A joint assembly plant was opened in 2011, with nearly 3,000 tractors BELARUS assembled in Venezuela over the time.
