MINSK, 14 October (BelTA) – Ukraine seeks to expand cooperation with Belarus in the manufacturing sector, President of the Ukrainian Chamber of Commerce and Industry Gennadiy Chyzhykov said at the opening ceremony of the TeMEx international industrial online expo, BelTA has learned.

“Trade and economic contacts between Belarus and Ukraine are on a steady growth path. Belarus is Ukraine's second biggest economic partner among the CIS countries and the fifth biggest partner in the world. This is a very serious fact. Belarusian agricultural products and foodstuffs are well known on the Ukrainian market. Ukrainians are well aware of Belarus’ great strides in mechanical engineering, automation and many other industries. We promote cooperation in the manufacturing sector and these efforts are supported by the business community. We should keep it up,” the head of the Ukrainian Chamber of Commerce and Industry said.

According to him, over 100 Belarusian companies operate on the Ukrainian market through distribution networks. “It is with great interest that we watch Belarus developing new solutions, establishing special parks, and encouraging young people to join these efforts,” Gennadiy Chyzhykov added.

Speaking about the TeMEx international industrial online expo, the president of the Ukrainian Chamber of Commerce and Industry called it a very timely event. “In such a difficult time it is important to rise to the challenge and really help the business community find new opportunities for growth. The today's exhibition is centered around technology, mechanical engineering, and I think this is the right approach, because this will determine the market niche and the face of each country in the decades to come. The exhibition is designed to bring together businesses from different countries, entrepreneurs working in various sectors, in order to make them feel more confident and appealing for foreign markets,” he said.

The TeMEx international industrial online expo will run through 14 January 2021. It is held under the auspices of the Belarusian Chamber of Commerce and Industry and with the support of the Belarusian Industry Ministry, the National Academy of Sciences of Belarus, sectoral ministries, and Belarusian embassies. Industry ministries, scientific institutions, chambers of commerce and industry, and business unions of several other countries also support the event.
