Trade unions of Belarus, China to promote stronger ties between countries

Trade unions of Belarus, China to promote stronger ties between countries

MINSK, 25 April (BelTA) – The trade unions of Belarus and China will promote stronger economic, education and cultural ties between the two countries, the Federation of Trade Unions of Belarus (FTUB) told BelTA following the meeting between FTUB Chairman Mikhail Orda and First Vice Chairman of All-China Federation of Trade Unions Li Yufu.

The meeting took place during the FTUB chairman’s visit to China to attend a thematic sub-forum held as part of the Belt and Road Forum for International Cooperation.

“The Belt and Road international cooperation initiative is aimed at the elaboration of new mechanisms of regional economic partnership, strengthening of cultural exchanges and ties between all the participants of the project. Trade unions support and are interested in the initiative, since its implementation will promote economic growth of the involved countries and, hence, help addess the main issues of the trade unions, which are the creation of new jobs and a salary rise,” Mikhail Orda said.

Mikhail Orda and Li Yufu discussed general matters related to the development of the trade union movement in the countries and emphasized the need to set up primary trade union organizations at all enterprises. “We are confident that where there are labor relations, there is a need for a trade union. This gives a possibility for collective protection of labor interests. A trade union is also a uniting power which helps keep the balance between the workers’ interests and the employer in general,” the FTUB chairman said.

The Federation of Trade Unions of Belarus and the All-China Federation of Trade Unions reached agreements to organize mutual training of representatives of trade unions, develop trade union tourism, provide members of trade unions with spa-resort recuperation opportunities, and also provide mutual support on the international arena.
