MINSK, 10 April (BelTA) – Trade between Belarus and Russia's Yakutia expanded by more than 40% in 2024, Belarus' Deputy Economy Minister Alesya Abramenko said as she met with a delegation from the Republic of Sakha (Yakutia) headed by Executive Director of Yakutia Railways Dmitry Kondratov, BelTA learned from the press service of the Economy Ministry.

According to the deputy minister, strong ties have been built between Belarus and Yakutia over the years of productive cooperation.

“The mutual trade increased by more than 40% in 2024 over 2023. Positive dynamics remained in place in the first two months of 2025: exports of Belarusian products have more than doubled. At the same time, the range of sales is still relatively small, and Belarus is ready to expand it,” Alesya Abramenko noted.

Yakutia wants to purchase Belarusian products directly. During the visit, the delegation took part in B2B meetings with Belarusian producers of food and consumer goods in order conclude direct contracts without intermediaries.

A priority task for the near future is to launch direct container transportation. Dmitry Kondratov informed his counterparts about plans to open an office of Yakutia Railways in Minsk. A decision on that has already been made.
