MINSK, 14 February (BelTA) – Bilateral trade between Belarus and Russia’s Tatarstan went up in 2022, and cooperation continues, Denis Meleshkin, Deputy Chairman of the Belarusian Chamber of Commerce and Industry (BelCCI) said during a meeting with a business delegation of Russia’s Tatarstan in Minsk on 14 February, BelTA has learned.

The delegation from Tatarstan includes representatives of the companies interested in establishing close ties with Belarusian business in such sectors as petrochemistry, supplies of steel products, component parts, polymer products, construction materials, etc.

Belarusian business has an interest too, Denis Meleshkin said. “More than 40 Belarusian companies have applied for participation in this business meeting. The event has been organized in furtherance of the agreements reached by the heads of government of Belarus and Tatarstan in September of last year. Back then the parties signed a set of contracts worth several billions Russian rubles and reached agreements to step up cooperation between major enterprises as well as between medium and small ones. This business meeting can be considered as an event to implement these agreements,” he noted.

The trade between Belarus and Tatarstan rose in 2022 but the potential is not yet fully exhausted, Denis Meleshkin believes. “There are many areas of cooperation Belarus and the Russian region may find interesting. Belarus has good terms of trade, transparent legal system in the field of trade and investment, favorable investment climate and a number of preferential zones. One of them is, for example, the China-Belarus Great Stone park near Minsk. Moreover, every region has its own free economic zone ready for cooperation with companies of Tatarstan,” Denis Meleshkin concluded.

During the business meeting the Belarusian participants had an opportunity to talk to representatives of Tatarstan companies providing petrochemistry and oil services and discuss the supplies of metal products for engineering networks, component parts for oil-production infrastructure, polymer sheets, construction metal structures, leasing and management of real estate and personnel recruitment.
