MINSK, 13 March (BelTA) – The Belarusian state petrochemical concern Belneftekhim expects three tankers with oil for Belarus to arrive in the Klaipeda port by the end of March, BelTA learned from Belneftekhim’s Press Secretary Aleksandr Tishchenko.

The official said: “We can confirm the information. We look forward to the arrival of three more tankers in the Klaipeda port this month. We cannot disclose detailed information about them for now.”

Previous reports indicated that Belneftekhim had bought two shiploads of oil from traders in March with transshipment in the Klaipeda port. The first tanker reached the Lithuanian port on 4 March. This oil will be refined by OAO Naftan.

Speaking about Reuters’ speculations about the possibility of Belarus importing oil from Saudi Arabia, Aleksandr Tishchenko said the country is working on all directions of oil import diversification, including import from Arab countries.

The Belneftekhim spokesman said: “One can describe the oil market as fresh today considering the latest dynamics of prices and offers. We are working on all diversification directions, including with Arab suppliers. Since there are no reports that someone has bought something at the latest prices yet, it is logical to continue studying the market.”
