MINSK, 2 October (BelTA) – State support to the economy in the form of tax relief and preferences amid the pandemic exceeded Br34 million, BelTA learned from Prime Minister of Belarus Roman Golovchenko in the House of Representatives of the National Assembly on 2 October.
Roman Golovchenko said: “Large-scale work has been launched to support the organizations that have been affected by crisis phenomena in the world economy. Tax reliefs and preferences have been granted to about 47,000 commercial entities and self-employed businessmen to the tune of over Br34 million via a package of presidential decrees. About 8,000 decisions on authorizing a rent-free period have been made to the tune of over Br30 million.” State banks lent about Br700 million to over 50 enterprises against guarantees of the central government, with nearly Br100 million lent against guarantees of municipal authorities.
Incentive payments for healthcare and social service workers for work in COVID-19 conditions amounted to Br325 million.
According to Roman Golovchenko, thanks to concerted actions of the central government, the central bank, and other bodies macroeconomic and financial stability is being maintained, external and internal commitments of the state are being honored.
“After their failure to organize a political blitzkrieg certain forces are still intent on shaking the country’s economy, including via social networks and Telegram channels. The head of state has assigned tasks to the new composition of the government. Preventing an economic collapse is the key one. The task can be accomplished only if certain order and manageability are secured in all spheres. And it is being accomplished,” Roman Golovchenko said.
