MINSK, 8 June (BelTA) - Tajikistan is interested in increasing the supply of Belarusian meat and dairy products and agricultural machinery, Tajikistan Minister of Agriculture Sadi Karimzoda said at a meeting of the Belarus-Tajikistan intergovernmental commission on trade and economic cooperation on 8 June, BelTA has learned.

Speaking about cooperation prospects, the minister mentioned the most important areas in his opinion. They include the development of foreign economic activity, investment, industry, agriculture, transport, social, cultural, scientific and technical sectors.

“We want to expand supplies of meat products from Belarus, beef in particular. We also plan to increase supplies of dairy products, raw milk and other food products,” Sadi Karimzoda said.

According to him, an important issue of further mutually beneficial cooperation is to establish a synchronized supply of food products to Belarus, as well as to consider the signing of a memorandum to promote exports between the relevant agencies.

“We are working on the supplies of Belarusian agricultural equipment, which our agricultural sector really needs. In 2021, some 411 units of tractors of various brands and more than 124 agricultural machines were supplied to Tajikistan. Our ministry is interested in continuing cooperation in this area,” the minister said.

In his words, the two countries have great prospects to continue developing their relations. He also praised bilateral cooperation in humanitarian affairs and drew attention to education in the agricultural sector and made proposals for cooperation on training and internships in the area.

In 2021, the trade between Belarus and Tajikistan exceeded $126 million and increased by 12.6% compared to 2020, with exports making up more than $122 million (up 11.1%).
