Supersize haul trucks made by Belarusian BelAZ sell well

MINSK, 16 October (BelTA) – The share of haul trucks with an extremely large carrying capacity in sales of the Belarusian automobile engineering company BelAZ is on the rise, BelTA has learned.

The total carrying capacity of the dump trucks sold so far this year has increased by 40% in comparison with the same period of last year. The share of haul trucks with an extremely large carrying capacity in the total shipments has reached 65%, way up from the previous record of 36% in 2012.

In January-September 2018 BelAZ’s top sellers were 110-130 tonne haul trucks (38%) followed by 220-240 tonne haul trucks (18%) and 45-tonne trucks (12%). The haul trucks of the three varieties accounted for 68% of the total shipments in January-September 2018. In the period BelAZ sold as many 220-240 tonne trucks as in the entire year of 2012 (160 vehicles), setting a new record for this class of haul trucks.

In January-September 2018 BelAZ traded with partners in 45 countries. In terms of their share in export and import operations of the Belarusian company the top five partners were Russia (57%), Uzbekistan (10.9%), the UK (9.4%), Ukraine (4.3%), and Kazakhstan (3.4%).

The high export figures owe a lot to the growing export to Russia and the CIS states, which accounted for 59% and 27% of the total shipments respectively. A lot of BelAZ vehicles were sold to the CIS states, in particular, Ukraine and Kazakhstan. Uzbekistan alone bought 118 vehicles, which is above the record high figure registered in 2017.

BelAZ vehicles were sold to non-CIS states, too, including Serbia, Indonesia, Bulgaria, Estonia, Poland, Mongolia, Bosnia and Herzegovina, Lithuania, and Czechia. Bangladesh, which bought a batch of bulldozers, and the Philippines, which bought a batch of 55 tonne dump trucks, were new markets for BelAZ. Taking into account sales of spare parts, BelAZ traded with 20 non-CIS states.
