Startup from Belarus’ Hi-Tech Park makes world’s first intuitive keyboard

Startup from Belarus’ Hi-Tech Park makes world’s first intuitive keyboard

MINSK, 13 June (BelTA) – Clevetura, a startup in Belarus’ Hi-Tech Park, has started working with the internationally recognized brand Prestigio. The world’s first intuitive keyboard Click&Touch will be available on the market in late August, representatives of the Hi-Tech Park told BelTA.

The Belarusian startup Clevetura has finished creating a technology that merges the functionality of the keyboard, the touch pad, and the mouse. In addition to attaching sensors to buttons the developers have managed to enable automatic and seamless transition between text typing and cursor control. The world’s first intuitive keyboard Click&Touch will be available on the market in late August.

As part of the Clevetura technology sensors are built into the keyboard buttons. It is a drastic departure from principles of operation of other devices such as notebooks or keyboards with a dedicated sensor panel. The buttons respond to touches and gestures just like a touch pad or a mouse would. Without changing the position of your hands you can type text, scroll a page, or move the mouse cursor.

The transition between text typing and cursor control is automated. The user does not have to think what mode is used at a specific moment of time. The system is unique since it enables interactive work with the device and new user experience, the source explained.

The technology is owned by Clevetura. The Belarusian startup has worked for the last few years as a resident company of the Hi-Tech Park. Sergei Kostevich, the founder of the holding company ASBIS and the Prestigio brand, is the investor. It took about three years to implement the idea as a commercial prototype. The developers now look forward to getting the patent certificate.

The production of devices relying on the Clevetura technology will begin in July 2019. Intuitive keyboards Click&Touch will become available in retail under the Prestigio brand in late August. Plans have been made to make about 100,000 keyboards this year.

Sales of the new keyboards will begin in the CIS and Baltic states. People in Belarus, Russia, Lithuania, Ukraine, Kazakhstan, Estonia, and Latvia will be the first ones to be able to buy the device. The target market area will grow larger in the future.

“One of the main tasks of the Hi-Tech Park is to support talented people and promising projects. A growing number of companies in the Hi-Tech Park create their own products, which are then used all over the world. It is always pleasing when a Belarusian startup in the park goes from zero to an international brand. We will continue helping young projects in the future,” Vsevolod Yanchevsky, Director of the Hi-Tech Park, noted.

Applications of the Clevetura technology are not limited to dedicated keyboards. The developers are considering the possibility of using it in other devices, including laptops.
