Stadler Minsk may make metro trains for CIS

MINSK, 25 March (BelTA) – Stadler Minsk may produce metro trains for other CIS countries, Stadler Minsk CEO Philipp Brunner said in an interview with the ONT TV channel, BelTA has learned.

“The trains we designed for the Minsk Metro can also be sold to other CIS countries. Of course, there is a specific character of the Minsk metro, including the design, the number of seats, air conditioners, and capacity. However, we consider the basic model for exports,” Philipp Brunner said.

Stadler also plans to launch the production of conversion elements in Belarus. “The potential is huge and we have decided to build a separate plant. I hope that we will be able to equip trams and trains with our Belarusian converters in the future,” he said.

Philipp Brunner stressed that the business climate in Belarus is comfortable. “This is the movement in the right direction and we can feel it. There is also a potential to enhance the level. Every year we see new initiatives that make our work here easier. This year we expect progress in currency control,” he said.
