South Korea presents experience of organizing digital economy transformation in Minsk

MINSK, 4 May (BelTA) – The Korean experience of organizing the digital transformation of the economy was presented in Minsk, the press service of the Belarusian Economy Ministry told BelTA on 4 May.

During the seminar held on 3 May the Korean experts also presented results of a research into the readiness of the Belarusian economy for digital transformation. Proposals and recommendations were made on launching the digital transformation of the processing industry (mechanical engineering, petrochemical industry, and pharmaceutics).

The presented materials testified to the high professionalism of Korean specialists. The recommendations will be used to prepare medium-term program documents. A full report on implementing the project will be translated into Russian and forwarded to the Belarusian side in September.

A panel session was held as part of the seminar to discuss the Economy Ministry’s interaction with government agencies and the business community in the course of implementing initiatives on promising avenues of economic development. Participants of the panel session were told about an algorithm for interaction with interested parties in the course of implementing project initiatives in the area of cluster development, startup movement, and the development of the digital economy, which are being implemented (or are scheduled for implementation) using external financial and intellectual resources.

Dmitry Krupsky, Head of the Economy of Innovative Activities Office of the Belarusian Economy Ministry, presented an organizational and technological platform Smart Industry of Belarus, which is designed to pool the organizational and intellectual potential of individuals and corporations, who are interested in forming a modern industry in Belarus through reliance on key components of the Industry 4.0 concept as well as new management principles. The platform is expected to unite 80-100 participants. The organizational establishment of the platform is supposed to be finished by the end of 2019.

Belarusian Deputy Economy Minister Dmitry Matusevich, First Deputy Communications and Informatization Minister Dmitry Shedko, and over 80 representatives of government agencies, real sector companies, the private sector, and the scientific and educational community of Belarus took part in the seminar.
