Slovakia to share its regional market transformation strategies with Belarus

MINSK, 17 May (BelTA) – The international technical aid project of the Slovakian Chamber of Commerce and Industry (Zilina Region) “Using the best practices to promote the transformation of the regional market environment” was presented in Minsk on 17 May, BelTA learned from the Minsk department of the Belarusian Chamber of Commerce and Industry (BCCI).

On Slovakia’s behalf, the event was attended by Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of Slovakia to Belarus Jozef Migas, director of the Slovakian Chamber of Commerce and Industry (Zilina Region) Jan Misura; On Belarus’ behalf – by Deputy Director General of the Minsk department of the Belarusian Chamber of Commerce and Industry Tatyana Dubova, representatives of regional departments of the BCCI.

The project aims to support and develop small and medium-sized businesses in Belarus. It will help enhance and expand bilateral relations between Slovakia and Belarus, use Slovakia’s best practices for the transformation of the economy and social sector. The involvement of regional chambers of commerce and industry will have a positive impact on entrepreneurship, spread skills and know-how at the regional level.

Regional businessmen still face difficulties with searching new partners and establishing various forms of cooperation on the European and other markets. There is not enough information about concrete European markets, innovations, the European legislation, standards, and certificates. Therefore, it is difficult for Belarusian enterprises to branch out into the markets of Slovakia and the European Union. Slovakian experts will Belarusian chambers of commerce and industry and business organizations develop strategies for the transformation of the competitive market environment.

The implementation of joint projects in Belarus has created preconditions for the development of the new project. After the 12th session of the Belarusian-Slovakian joint commission for economic, scientific, and technical cooperation (in October 2015) an instruction was given to continue the cooperation of regional chambers of commerce and industry of Belarus and Slovakia in order to step up bilateral trade and economic cooperation, expand business contacts and interaction in the preparation of projects to build up the economic and business potential using the financing of European funds.
