MINSK, 12 February (BelTA) - The agreement on the transshipment of Belarusian oil products via Russian sea ports will be signed post 15 February. The postponement is due to the ongoing domestic legal processes governing the conclusion of the agreement, spokeswoman for the Transport and Communications Ministry Anna Kurilenok told BelTA.

"Currently, we are still completing the domestic legal process to sign the agreement between Belarus and Russia on the transshipment of oil products. In this regard, the meeting will be postponed," Anna Kurilenok said.

More so, work is still underway on the contracts with Russian operators of seaport terminals and with the railway operator which must be signed together with the agreement, she noted.

Earlier the Russian Ministry of Transport announced that the agreement on transshipment of Belarusian oil products via Russian ports will be signed on 15 February.

The draft agreement envisages the transshipment of more than 9.8 million tonnes of Belarusian cargoes via Russian Baltic sea ports in 2021-2023. These include fuel oil, petrol and oil. The agreement provides for take-or-pay contracts.

The agreement will be valid until the end of 2023 and can be extended automatically.
