Shpakova: Belarus, Poland on the way towards closer cooperation

MINSK, 17 November (BelTA) – Belarus and Poland are on the way towards closer cooperation, Yelena Shpakova, Deputy Head of the European Cooperation Office of the Belarusian Ministry of Foreign Affairs, said during an event to mark Poland’s Independence Day held at the House of Friendship in Minsk on 17 November.

Yelena Shpakova noted that Belarusian-Polish cooperation is based on the principles of friendship, mutual respect and good neighborliness. The countries have entered a new stage in their relations. The diplomat stressed that Poland is Belarus’ third major trading partner and is among the top ten investors into the Belarusian economy.

For his part, Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of Poland to Belarus Konrad Pawlik said that 2016 is a special year in the bilateral cooperation which has grown stronger. “Belarus has been a good neighbor to Poland. I am happy that my diplomatic mission has coincided with a period of active development of bilateral ties,” the Ambassador said.

The head of the Belarus-Poland society Anatoly Butevich added that the people of Belarus and Poland are connected by strong ties and public diplomacy.

The concert featured music performed by representatives of the college of Belarusian State Academy of Music.
