Show room of Belarusian tractors opens in Phnom Penh

MINSK, 13 February (BelTA) – Chairman of the House of Representatives of the National Assembly of Belarus Vladimir Andreichenko and members of the Belarusian delegation, including Director General of Minsk Tractor Works Vladimir Volchok, took part in the official opening ceremony of the show room of Belarusian tractors in Phnom Penh, the capital of the Kingdom of Cambodia, BelTA learnt from the press service of the House of Representatives.

Speaking at the opening ceremony were Chairman of the House of Representatives of the National Assembly of Belarus Vladimir Andreichenko and Minister of Agriculture, Forestry and Fisheries of Cambodia Chan Sarun.

Vladimir Andreichenko reminded that the first visit to Belarus of the Cambodian parliamentary delegation led by Chairman of the National Assembly of Cambodia Heng Samrin took place in June 2012. The first direct supplies of Belarusian tractors to Cambodia were arranged in 2012. A new cooperation stage has been launched today, Vladimir Andreichenko said. At the meeting with the Prime Minister of Cambodia the parties agreed to set up a joint venture to assemble Belarusian tractors in Phnom Penh. The Premier said that he will be at the assembly factory when the first Belarusian tractor will leave the assembly line.

The Chairman of the House of Representatives stated that Belarus is ready to expand cooperation in other areas of mechanical engineering. He expressed confidence that his proposals will be accepted by Cambodia and the two countries will consider new projects.

On the eve of the opening ceremony, the Director General of Minsk Tractor Works met with top executives of the company Mekong AT to sign articles of association of the joint venture to assemble Belarusian tractors in the Cambodian capital. They formalized plans to supply over 250 items of tractor machinery to Cambodia in H1 2013. “Cambodia is very enthusiastic about an opportunity to increase the deliveries of tractors this year and is ready to supply Belarusian tractors assembled in Phnom Penh to the neighboring states,” the press service of the House of Representatives informed.

Earlier, Vladimir Andreichenko met with Minister of Agriculture, Forestry and Fisheries of Cambodia Chan Sarun. The Chairman of the House of Representatives of Belarus suggested drafting cooperation agreements in agriculture and supplying mineral fertilizers and farm produce to Cambodia. He also suggested providing training to Cambodians at Belarusian universities. Chan Sarun welcomed the proposals and said he will consider promising cooperation avenues. He said that Cambodia is interested in boosting cooperation in processing of agricultural produce.

Education Minister of Belarus Sergei Maskevich met with representatives of the Association of Graduates of Belarusian Universities.
