Sharif supports Belarus’ participation in building China-Pakistan economic corridor

ISLAMABAD, 5 October (BelTA) – Prime Minister of Pakistan Nawaz Sharif supports Belarus’ participation in building the China-Pakistan economic corridor, BelTA learned from Deputy Prime Minister of Belarus Vladimir Semashko on 5 October.

According to Vladimir Semashko, the project will need $46.7 billion in investments. It provides for creating a broad range of infrastructure including motorways, railroads, oil and gas pipelines as well as other facilities.

“It will be the largest free economic zone in the world. The prime minister of Pakistan supports us. We’ve been promised that Belarus will get several projects as part of the corridor construction effort. In essence we will be exporting our services,” said Vladimir Semashko.

The Deputy Prime Minister of Belarus remarked that Belarus had already participated in such projects. For instance, Belarusian companies have built several factories and city blocks in Venezuela.

Vladimir Semashko pointed out that the construction of facilities and motorways will not be limited to the work of construction workers and architects: materials, vehicles and equipment will need to be used as well. Their involvement will also generate certain profits.
