Senator visits Belarusian heavy truck manufacturer BelAZ

ZHODINO, 9 June (BelTA) – Chairwoman of the Council of the Republic of the National Assembly of Belarus Natalya Kochanova visited the Belarusian automobile engineering company OAO BelAZ on 9 June. She talked to BelAZ employees and was made familiar with the manufacturing process in various production departments, BelTA has learned.
The senator admitted she had intended to visit BelAZ for a long time. She noted that Belarus takes pride in BelAZ products, which enjoy international recognition. “A good and worthy enterprise, one of the country’s best. We are proud of it. It is one of Belarus’ brands,” the speaker stressed. “Enterprises like MTZ, MAZ, and BelAZ are the mainstay of the manufacturing sector.”
The senator attributed BelAZ accomplishments to the hard work of the company employees. The company’s director Piotr Parkhomchik has been recently appointed Belarusian industry minister. “It is a responsible position. The arrival of an executive of this caliber will give a new impulse to the development of the country’s manufacturing sector,” Natalya Kochanova is convinced.
The head of the upper chamber of the Belarusian parliament went on a tour of BelAZ’s production departments. The senator was informed about the company’s efforts to hit performance targets set by the five-year plan. Export dynamics was mentioned. Since the beginning of 2020 BelAZ has substantially diversified export shipments by increasing the share of non-CIS states in the total export volume and by exploring new niches on the mining equipment market. In January-May 2020 BelAZ products were shipped to 20 countries, including to 13 non-CIS states.
Natalya Kochanova was informed about BelAZ’s investment activities. The possibility of implementing a project to modernize the manufacturing facilities in 2020-2025 is under consideration. The project is designed to enhance the company’s capability to make haul trucks, underground vehicles, road construction machines, and special-purpose machines. The high level of the company’s corporate social responsibility was mentioned. Providing the personnel with affordable housing is a high priority for BelAZ’s management.
The public joint-stock company (OAO) BelAZ is the managing company of the holding company BelAZ. BelAZ is the world's leading manufacturer of haul trucks and transport equipment for mining industry and civil engineering industry. BelAZ accounts for some 30% of the world market of haul trucks with an extremely large carrying capacity. The company makes the world’s largest haul truck with the carrying capacity of 450 tonnes.
