MOSCOW, 12 July (BelTA) – Russia’s Sverdlovsk Oblast is interested in Belarusian electric buses. Belarusian Deputy Prime Minister Vladimir Semashko and Sverdlovsk Oblast Governor Yevgeny Kuivashev discussed the possibility of arranging supplies of the innovative vehicles to Russia as they met in Yekaterinburg on 12 July, BelTA learned from the press service of the Belarusian Embassy in Russia.

“We have mastered the production of a new type of vehicles, electric buses. Designed in Belarus, this know-how already services the routes of the Belarusian capital. The vehicle is able to cover the distance of up to 15km from one end stop to the other without a recharge. The electric bus is noiseless and dustless, and allows for saving up to 30% of energy. We can be mutually beneficial in this respect. We invite colleagues to visit Minsk to take a look at the vehicles,” Vladimir Semashko said.

He noted that Belarus is ready to deliver, on a competitive basis, electric buses to Sverdlovsk Oblast and to provide maintenance service.

“This is a very interesting and promising product. Our colleagues will study the possibility of using this mode of transport in Yekaterinburg and Nizhny Tagil,” Yevgeny Kuivashev said. He instructed the regional government to consider buying a pilot lot of electric buses, a unique product of Minsk-based companies.

The governor thanked the Belarusian side for its contribution to the upgrade of the transport fleet of Sverdlovsk Oblast. Yevgeny Kuivashev noted that the buses acquired as part of the preparations for the 2018 FIFA World Cup have tested well in the streets of Yekaterinburg.
