MINSK, 12 November (BelTA) – Bryansk Oblast is one of the leaders among Russia’s regions in terms of trade turnover via the Belarusian Universal Commodity Exchange (BUCE), the BUCE press service told BelTA.

According to data about the deals signed with residents of the Russian Federation via the Belarusian Universal Commodity Exchange in January-October 2025, companies from Bryansk Oblast occupy the sixth position in terms of exchange-facilitated trade among all the regions of Russia. In cost terms the trade volume totaled $16.4 million, 1.7 times up from January-October 2024. In addition to Bryansk Oblast the most active users of the Belarusian exchange trade platform include enterprises from Russia’s Moscow Oblast, Smolensk Oblast, Leningrad Oblast, and Belgorod Oblast as well as trading participants from Russia’s Republic of Tatarstan. The information was released as BUCE representatives met with the business circles of Bryansk Oblast during the international specialized wholesale trade show Prodexpo 2025.

During negotiations the parties discussed promising avenues of Belarus’ cooperation with Bryansk Oblast in the field of exchange-facilitated trade and ways of invigorating interaction along this strategic track. Close attention was paid to agribusiness since in 2025 agricultural products became the key driver of the growing sum of exchange deals between Belarusian companies and Bryansk Oblast ones.

In mutual trade agricultural products account for 82%, with Belarus’ export securing 63% of the deals. Trading participants from Bryansk Oblast were particularly interested in milk powder, butter, and meat products while import was dominated by seeds of oil-bearing crops, primarily rapeseed. In addition to agricultural products Bryansk Oblast also bought timber, cinder blocks, and scrap metal. In turn, as part of import substitution Belarusian enterprises bought parts and components for industrial equipment and machines from Bryansk Oblast manufacturers.

As a result of the meeting with the Bryansk Oblast private sector agreements were reached with manufacturers of polymer film and corrugated packaging on selling these products via the exchange. BUCE representatives noted that packaging materials enjoy great demand among Belarusian food industry enterprises and exchange sales confirm it. For instance, January-October 2025 saw Br140 million worth of polymer packaging sold (1.5 times up from January-October 2024) and Br6.8 million worth of packaging paper and container board sold (seven times up).

As of 12 November 2025 as many as 170 commercial entities from Bryansk Oblast were accredited with BUCE. Since the beginning of the year 15 new companies from this region of Russia have started working via the exchange platform.

The public joint-stock company (OAO) Belarusian Universal Commodity Exchange was established in 2004, with its first trading session conducted in June 2005. BUCE is one of the largest mercantile exchanges in Eastern Europe. Its key function is to assist Belarusian companies with exporting their products and assist foreign companies with entering the Belarusian market. The commodity exchange facilitates trade in metals, timber, agricultural products, and a broad choice of industrial and consumer goods.
