Russian restrictions on Belarusian dairy exports ruled unlawful

MINSK, 10 July (BelTA) – Russia’s introduction of temporary restrictions on importing certain kinds of dairy products from Belarus runs contrary to the legislation of the Eurasian Economic Union. The conclusion was made at a session of the Board of the Eurasian Economic Commission on 9 July, the commission’s press service told BelTA.

The Board of the Eurasian Economic Commission once again looked into the problem of restrictions on importing dairy products from Belarus to Russia. It was noted that the Russian restrictions on importing certain kinds of dairy products from Belarus are incompliant with the legislation of the Eurasian Economic Union. Belarus and Russia are ready to lift restrictions from dairy trade. The relevant roadmap will be implemented to make it happen.

If Russia persists in restricting dairy imports from Belarus, the Board of the Eurasian Economic Commission will consider reminding that provisions of the Eurasian Economic Union Treaty must be fulfilled within three months.

Participants of the session discussed customs regulation, competition, and the operation of domestic markets of the Eurasian Economic Union.
