Russian gas price for Belarus to remain at $127 in January-February

MINSK, 3 January (BelTA) – The price Belarus pays for Russian natural gas will remain at $127 per 1,000m3 in January-February, the press service of the Belarusian Energy Ministry told BelTA.

The source reminded that Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of Belarus to Russia Vladimir Semashko and Belarusian Energy Minister Viktor Karankevich met with PAO Gazprom Chairman of the Board Aleksei Miller in Moscow on 31 December 2019.

During the meeting the sides discussed interaction in the sphere of natural gas in 2020, including the price for the Russian natural gas Belarus buys. As a result of the meeting the sides signed a protocol between the Belarusian government and PAO Gazprom. The protocol stipulates that in January and February 2020 Belarus will get natural gas at prices on par with last year’s level ($127 per 1,000m3).

The sides continue negotiating deliveries of natural gas to Belarus, the press service of the Belarusian Energy Ministry added.

BelTA reported earlier that on 31 December 2019 Russia and Belarus signed a protocol on natural gas prices in January-February 2020. Supplements to the contracts on natural gas transit and natural gas deliveries with Gazprom Transgaz Belarus were also signed to extend them till 2021. According to the signed documents, the volume of natural gas deliveries and transit in 2020 will remain at the level of 2019, Gazprom said.

In 2019 the price for natural gas Belarus bought stayed at $127 per 1,000m3 at the border. The central state budget for the year 2020 set this parameter at last year’s level.
