Russian company to make main pipeline for second reactor of Belarusian nuclear power plant in 2017

MINSK, 18 October (BelTA) – The Russian company PAO Izhorskiye Zavody will make the main circulating pipeline for the second power-generating unit of the Belarusian nuclear power plant in 2017, BelTA learned from the company’s website.

Early this year Izhorskiye Zavody made pipe spools of the main circulating pipeline for the first power-generating unit of the Belarusian nuclear power plant and shipped them to the customer. The production of the main circulating pipeline and its delivery will be completed in April 2017.

The main circulating pipeline will connect the primary coolant circuit equipment of the nuclear power plant reactor including the reactor, steam generators, and circulating pumps. The main circulating pipeline is designed to transport water heated to 350C with pressures as high as 17.6MPa. The cooling agent cools the reactor’s active zone and transfers heat to steam generators.

The Belarusian nuclear power plant is a project to build a VVER-1200 type nuclear power plant 18km away from Ostrovets, Grodno Oblast. The BelNPP will have two power-generating units with the total output capacity of up to 2,400MW (2x1,200MW).

Izhorskiye Zavody is one of Russia’s oldest industrial enterprises. It was founded in 1722. At present it is a cutting-edge mechanical engineering company that designs and makes equipment for nuclear energy industry installations, for high-energy physics research installations, and equipment for heavy engineering industry and petrochemical engineering industry.
