VITEBSK, 28 February (BelTA) – The Russian company OOO TD TsSK intends to invest about $10 million over the course of five years in setting up the production of construction materials in Lepel, Vitebsk Oblast, the company’s founder Igor Solomakho told BelTA.

In order to implement the project, the company has bought vacant buildings of a mechanical repair plant via an auction. The site occupies about 5 hectares but requires serious investments in infrastructure. Roofs of manufacturing facilities where metalworking will be developed are being repaired now. Specialized equipment worth about $1 million has been installed. Startup and commissioning operations in the metalworking shop are scheduled for early summer, Igor Solomakho said.

The Lepel site can be used to make a broad range of construction materials in the future, including metal tile roofing, profiled flooring, and drywall tracks. Later on the enterprise intends to develop the production of sandwich panels in addition to setting up woodworking equipment in order to make products with a high added value using locally available raw materials.

According to Igor Solomakho, the Russian company specializes in selling construction materials. The investor intends to use the Lepel site to develop logistics services. A railway line to the site has already been restored. The company has considered target markets. It intends to export about 60% of the output primarily to the European market, including B2B and B2C sales.

The site was not chosen by accident since the company’s founder Igor Solomakho grew up in Lepel. Apart from that, Igor Solomakho is a representative of the free economic zone (FEZ) Vitebsk in the Russian Federation. “I’ve worked in Moscow for over ten years but I don’t forget about Belarus. Moreover, I believe it is my duty to help my native country,” the businessman said. The implementation of the project will allow creating about 100-150 jobs in Lepel.
