Rothschild Group invited to assess Belarusian enterprises

MINSK, 19 February (BelTA) – President of Belarus Alexander Lukashenko has invited Rothschild Group to assess the enterprises Belarus is privatizing. The Belarusian head of state made the relevant statement as he met with Rothschild Group top executives on 19 February.

Alexander Lukashenko thanked the company for its assessment of several Belarusian enterprises. “We highly appreciate your work. Rothschild Group is one of the most long-standing companies in the world and it would be very advantageous for us to work together with your specialists,” said the President.

“If you agree to the general idea, in the near future we could choose 5-7 projects and work on them more seriously,” said Alexander Lukashenko. “Apart from precise assessment of the enterprises to be privatized we would like to learn”. The head of state added that Belarus had already worked with Rothschild Group. He pointed out the insistency of the Belarusian side. “We are obliging people. If we strike a deal, we will do everything we promise,” he said.

Alexander Lukashenko invited Rothschild Group to discuss basic principles of cooperation and remarked that he, in his turn, is ready for a serious and sincere dialogue and is ready to answer the questions Rothschild Group may be interested in.

Rothschild Group Managing Director Ariel de Rothschild thanked for the word of praise, including Rothschild Group’s assessment of BPS Bank. She remarked that Rothschild Group representatives had met with Belarusian government officials, executives of the National Bank in order to understand intentions of the Belarusian side better from the financial and economic points of view.
