Rosatom in research reactor construction talks with Belarus

MOSCOW, 31 May (BelTA) – The Russian state nuclear industry corporation Rosatom is discussing the construction of a research reactor with Belarus, BelTA learned from Rosatom Director General Sergei Kiriyenko during the plenary session of the Atomexpo forum in Moscow on 31 May.

According to the source, Rosatom is now ready to build research centers with reactors abroad. “Agreements on such centers in a number of countries are being discussed and prepared for signing, for instance, in Belarus, Tanzania, and many other ones,” said Sergei Kiriyenko.

The Rosatom Director General reminded that Russia boasts the world’s largest number of research reactors (53 units). More than 20 research reactors have been built in various parts of the world, including Europe, Asia, and Africa. “We are glad to offer a universal project to our partners in the form of research centers that can offer access to all the capabilities and benefits of nuclear technologies under one roof,” noted the source.
