Romania’s Maramures County considering buying Belarusian electric buses

MINSK, 21 February (BelTA) – Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of Belarus to Romania Andrei Grinkevich visited Maramures County in Romania’s northwest, BelTA has learned.
The trip was arranged upon the invitation of President of the Maramures County Council Ionel-Ovidiu Bogdan, with whom the ambassador had negotiated. Apart from that, the ambassador met with representatives of the county administration. Presentations of Belarus’ economic, investment, tourism, logistics, educational, and cultural potential were arranged.
The entire spectrum of bilateral interaction was discussed during the meetings while focusing on advancing interregional, trade, economic, and investment cooperation as well as cooperation in education, culture, and tourism. The establishment of twinning relations was discussed as well as the participation of Belarusian companies in municipal procurement tenders held for the sake of infrastructure development, including the organization of road construction works, public works, the acquisition of machines, vehicles, and equipment, the improvement of the public transit system, and the acquisition of Belarusian electric buses.
The ambassador also met with representatives of the private sector, representatives of spheres of tourism, education, and culture of Maramures County and discussed concrete matters concerning future cooperation with Belarus.
Maramures County was renowned for its mining industry in the past. Now it is famed for well-developed agriculture and woodworking industry, production of electric equipment and automobile components, metalworking, information technology industry, and tourism industry.
