MINSK, 12 January (BelTA) – The quality control procedure of another batch of Russia’s Sputnik V coronavirus vaccine is on the homestretch in Belarus, BelTA learned from the press service of the Healthcare Ministry.

Last year Belarus received several small consignments of the Sputnik V vaccine. Another batch of 20,000 doses arrived in the country in the run-up to the New Year. In line with the Law On the Circulation of Medicines, all medicines should pass the quality control procedure before distribution.

“The procedure is carried out by testing laboratories registered in the National Accreditation System of the Republic of Belarus. Experts of the testing laboratory are finishing the work to test the vaccine for its compliance with all quality requirements,” the press service noted.

When the quality control procedure is completed, the vaccination of frontline healthcare workers will continue.

The Healthcare Ministry has distributed the vaccine across the regions depending on applications of healthcare institutions. All cold chain compliance issues have been addressed.

Other people will be able to get a vaccine later. Various vaccines (5-6 vaccines) will be used for this purpose. The Healthcare Ministry is concluding negotiations with vaccine development companies.
