Production of Bosch automobile components under consideration in Belarus

MINSK, 20 July (BelTA) – An enterprise to make automobile components using the Bosch brand may be established in Belarus, BelTA learned from Belarusian Deputy Industry Minister Dmitry Korchik during a Bosch technology forum in Minsk on 20 July.

The official said: “We actively cooperate with Bosch Company in fuel equipment shipments. We would like to advance contacts and transition to new forms of interaction without limiting cooperation to supplies of automobile components to Belarus. In the future we may set up an enterprise to make Bosch automobile components in Belarus for the domestic market and the market of the Eurasian Economic Union.”

Belarus is also interested in cooperation with Bosch Company in manufacturing power tools. The Belarusian deputy industry minister confirmed the readiness to consider all cooperation options.

Dmitry Korchik informed about the Industry Ministry’s vigorous efforts to enhance the country’s mechanical engineering industry. In particular, negotiations are in progress with a number of major European companies, including DAF and Volvo, to start making a new model range of automobiles. There are also plans to implement a major project to start making gearboxes. The technology partner is being sought now.

The deputy industry minister reminded that Belarus has the technological potential and the scientific potential for implementing such projects as well as qualified product engineers. Belarus is ready to work with partners to upgrade the technical base for the sake of advancing cooperation. Among possible forms of cooperation the official mentioned the establishment of joint ventures and technological partnership to start manufacturing products through reliance on transferred know-how and new R&D efforts. Foreign-owned companies may be established as well. Dmitry Korchik assured the Industry Ministry is ready to provide full support for such projects.
