Private sector presses Eurasian Economic Commission for equal terms for joint ventures in EAEU

MOSCOW, 30 October (BelTA) – During a videoconference meeting with representatives of the Eurasian Economic Commission Belarusian businessmen drew the commission’s attention to the need to enable equal conditions for joint ventures in the Eurasian Economic Union. The meeting was chaired by Member of the Board (Minister) for Economy and Financial Policy of the Eurasian Economic Commission Timur Zhaksylykov. The meeting focused on the most pressing issues standing in the way of doing business for the Belarusian private sector in the Eurasian Economic Union, BelTA has learned.
Representatives of the Eurasian Economic Commission covered matters relating to the enforcement of the national regime during government procurement procedures, the propriety of providing industrial subsidies, and the operation of the common market of services. They also discussed problems of banking industry, labor migration, transport, and the removal of barriers on the domestic market of the Eurasian Economic Union.
Timur Zhaksylykov talked about the commission’s efforts to harmonize legislation in the area of intellectual property protection. He made a few comments on the prohibition against selling goods, which are marked with a registered trademark and are transported from one EAEU country to another. Timur Zhaksylykov also emphasized it is necessary to thoroughly work on the matter of recognition of Belarusian documents on the professional competence of international truckers who get employment in other EAEU member states. He also mentioned the commission’s more active efforts to resolve automobile transportation problems.
Representatives of business associations pointed out the Eurasian Economic Commission’s positive work on resolving problems in the sphere of government procurement. Belarusian businessmen drew attention of representatives of the commission to the need to enable equal conditions for joint ventures in the Eurasian Economic Union.
The enabling of favorable conditions for business development is necessary for securing a fast pace of economic and industrial growth of the Eurasian Economic Union member states, Timur Zhaksylykov stressed. It can be accomplished only if requirements of the Eurasian Economic Union Treaty are unconditionally observed.
Members of national, industry-specific, and regional associations of Belarus, representatives of commercial entities, and representatives of authorized government agencies of the country took part in the videoconference meeting.
