Private sector invited to Belarus-Russia future technopark

MOSCOW, 18 March (BelTA) – Belarus and Russia are considering the idea of creating a joint technopark. The information was released by Chairman of the State Science and Technology Committee of Belarus Alexander Shumilin on the sidelines of an international economic forum in Moscow on 18 March, BelTA has learned. The forum focused on new formats of interaction among countries of the Commonwealth of Independent States 25 years since the Commonwealth’s foundation.

Alexander Shumilin explained that there are plans to vigorously encourage private companies to get involved in the operation of the Belarusian-Russian technopark. It is necessary to get R&D products assimilated by the real sector of the economy as soon as possible, he said.

The official reminded that Belarus and Russia have a long track record of joint R&D cooperation. In his words, over 40 projects have been implemented as part of programs of the Union State of Belarus and Russia alone, including projects in the space industry, supercomputers and other areas.

According to Alexander Shumilin, Belarus and Russia are considering opportunities for implementing joint projects in the spheres of biotechnologies, medical technologies, and the utilization of subsurface resources.
