MINSK, 18 December (BelTA) – The project to build the Belarusian nuclear power plant is one of the most significant ones in Belarus-Russia relations. Prime Minister of Belarus Sergei Rumas made the statement as he met with Director General of the Russian state nuclear industry corporation Rosatom Aleksei Likhachev, BelTA has learned.
During the meeting the sides discussed progress in implementing the Belarusian nuclear power plant construction project and exchanged opinions.
The Belarusian nuclear power plant is being built near Ostrovets, Grodno Oblast using a Russian design featuring two VVER-1200 reactors with the total output capacity of 2,400MW. Rosatom’s engineering division – ASE Company – is the general contractor.
