Preparations for Belarus-Japan forum discussed

MINSK, 7 November (BelTA) – The Belarusian-Japanese forum Belarus-Hokkaido, which the parties plan to hold once the epidemiological situation normalizes, will highlight the development of economic and humanitarian cooperation, BelTA learned from the Belarusian embassy in Japan.

“These issues, among others, were considered at a meeting of Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of Belarus to Japan Ruslan Yesin with Hokkaido Vice Governor Motohito Uramoto in Sapporo on 6 November. The meeting was part of the previously held negotiations. The parties discussed issues related to the perpetuation of the memory of the Goshkevich family's contribution to the development of Belarusian-Japanese relations, and also the participation of Hokkaido children in the Belarusian recuperation programs for Japanese children.

Motohito Uramoto thanked the Belarusian side for the opportunity provided to children from the areas of Hokkaido Prefecture to recuperate in the National Education and Health Center Zubrenok. He confirmed the readiness to continue cooperation in youth exchange. He also expressed the readiness to provide maximum assistance in preparation of the Belarus-Hokkaido forum.

The parties exchanged views on the status and prospects of bilateral interregional cooperation.

The proposal to establish cooperation between the Border Guard Service Institute of Belarus and the Civil Protection University of the Emergencies Ministry of Belarus with specialized educational institutions of Japan was supported at the meetings with representatives of the Prefecture's Department of Education.
