VITEBSK, 27 April (BelTA) - Polish business sees the cooperation with Belarus as promising, Maciej Laski, the Director of the Promotion and International Cooperation Department of the Lodzkie Region administration (Poland) told BelTA. Maciej Laski is in Vitebsk asthe head of a delegation of Lodzkie Region.

When asked by BelTA to sum up the first results of the visit, he said that “the businessmen say that they see prospects in development of cooperation with Belarus and hoped to develop ties.” The administration of the region can support them but they will make the decisions themselves, he added.

This is the first time that Lodzkie Region has organized such a representative business visit to Belarus. The Polish guests already had met with senior officials of Orsha District and visited several enterprises of Orsha. “We really liked what we saw there,” Maciej Laski said. “Our delegation includes representatives of many businesses: producers of fruit and vegetable, industrial equipment, poultry industry and others. Entrepreneurs are interested in the opportunities to market their goods in Belarus and also to set up joint ventures. And this is the main issue that we are discussing,” the head of the delegation said.

For instance, the poultry farm is ready to open its business in Belarus. “All the decisions should be economically sound. If it is profitable for the company, these plans will be implemented. It will be an example for other companies in Lodzkie Region,” the Polish guest stressed. He noted that Belarusian businessmen may count on the support of the administration in the implementation of investment projects in Poland.

The visit of representatives of the Lodzkie Region administration and business is taking place on 26-27 April as part of the agreement on cooperation between the Lodz Agency of Regional Development and Vitebsk Oblast. The meeting was organized by the Economy Committee of the Vitebsk Oblast Executive Committee, the Vitebsk Oblast Marketing Center, the administration of the Vitebsk Free Economic Zone.
